Woman Finds 13-Year-Old Love Note in Bottle After Travelling 300,000km from Canada to Ireland

In an extraordinary discovery, a woman has uncovered a hidden love story sealed in a bottle that had traveled an astonishing 300,000 kilometers over 13 years.

The message in a bottle was found by a couple, Kate and John Gay, during a beach clean-up at Scraggane Bay, a small fishing port on the Maharees peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland, on Monday, July 7, 2025.

According to the Maharees Heritage and Conservation group, which shared the find, the bottle had made its way across the Atlantic Ocean all the way from Canada. The note inside, dated 2012, revealed a heartfelt message that hinted at a personal and emotional story. The letter reads: “Anita and Brad’s day trip to Bell Island.

“Today, we enjoyed dinner, this bottle of wine and each other, at the edge of the island.
