Oyo State Police Rescue 19 Ghanaians Tricked into Human Trafficking in Nigeria

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued 19 Ghanaian nationals—14 women and 5 men—who were lured into Nigeria with false promises of job opportunities, only to discover they were being trafficked.

In a statement released on Sunday, police spokesperson Adewale Osifeso said the victims were rescued following an operation based on credible intelligence. The police had been alerted to suspicious activity in a building located in Kajorepo, Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan.

he said: “The investigation was initiated based on credible intelligence concerning suspicious activities at a building in the Kajorepo area of Akinyele Local Government Area, Ibadan.

“This operation led to the rescue of 19 individuals, all young Ghanaian nationals”

The victims are now in the custody of the Nigerian Immigration Service, where investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the trafficking ring and arrange for their safe return to Ghana.
