Newborn Rescued After Spending 7 Days Beside Deceased Mother in Phoenix Home

A heartbreaking discovery in Phoenix has left many stunned, after police rescued a newborn baby who had spent an estimated seven days lying next to the body of his deceased mother.

The tragedy unfolded on May 14th, when concerned neighbors called authorities for a wellness check. They reported not seeing the woman for several days and noticed packages piling up outside her door.

According to Sgt. Brian Bower, when officers arrived and forced entry into the home, they found the woman unresponsive. Beside her, wrapped in a blanket, was her newborn baby—still alive.

“The mother had passed away while the child was still on the bed, curled up where she had left them,” Sgt. Bower explained.

“It’s because of the smart, immediate actions of the officers as well as the neighbors seeing something unusual and calling in for help,” 

Authorities believe the woman had been dead for several days before the infant was discovered.
