He Said He Could No Longer Marry Me – Woman Reveals Fiance Called Off Wedding After She Lost Her Leg in a Accident
Speaking during an interview with PUNCH, Loveth recounted the heartbreaking incident, revealing that the accident claimed two lives while she narrowly survived.
She said:
“I was involved in a fatal accident. I said it was a fatal accident because it took two lives.
“It was a bus that had a brake failure that knocked me down where I was standing by the roadside. The bus veered off the road and hit three people, including me. Two people died while I survived. I didn’t see the bus coming towards me because it happened so fast.
“I was rushed to the hospital by sympathisers who were around the scene of the accident, and I was in a coma for five days. I was rushed to the first hospital but was rejected by the medical workers on the ground.
“A similar situation happened at the second hospital where the sympathisers took me to; I was rejected by five hospitals. I was attended to at the sixth hospital.
“It happened on the 12th of April 2019, at the front of Oraifite Police Station. I was going to Onitsha to buy one or two items for one of my siblings.”
Loveth said her parents were devastated after seeing the severity of her injuries and feared she would not survive.
She said:
“Yes, my parents came. They were heartbroken, and they thought I wasn’t going to make it because of how bad my leg was. The accident was so bad that anyone who saw me on that day would think I was going to die. But I thank God I am still alive.
“The two legs, according to the doctor, were to be amputated, but God intervened. I regained consciousness in the hospital I was taken to. That was when I noticed what happened. The hospital said the leg had been damaged and that they would not be able to fix it.
“They then transferred me to another hospital at Ojoto in Anambra State. It is called Uzondu Orthopaedic Hospital. Immediately, we got to the hospital, the doctor came down, checked me, and said the leg was dead and would be amputated. I felt so bad. I was so scared and began to think I was not going to make it.
“My parents disagreed with the doctor because the entire situation came to them as a shock. Then the doctor said that if they refused to approve that my leg should be amputated, the bacteria in the leg that was causing my left leg to decay could move to my heart and might cause serious damage that could lead to death.
“The doctor specifically said I might not survive it if it got to that stage. My parents wanted me alive, but they were scared when they heard that my leg would be amputated.
“So, they thought I was going to die. That was why they were against it in the first place. But after all the medical process, they were happy that I was alive.”
According to Loveth, although her parents initially refused to consent to the amputation, the doctor later convinced her that removing the leg was the only way to save her life.
She added:
“No, they still refused to give their approval. But when they maintained their stance on not supporting the amputation of my left leg, the doctor convinced me to do it (allow my leg to be amputated so that I can be alive)
“According to the doctor, if I survive the situation, it is my life, and if I don’t survive it, it is still my life.
“At the time, we were told to deposit N350,000. Then, after the expenses in the hospital, the sum of N2.5m had already been spent.”
Speaking about life after the amputation, Loveth disclosed that she once bought a prosthetic leg herself, but it later became faulty, forcing her to return to using crutches.
She said:
“Yes, I bought one for myself, but it later had issues with the foot. That was why I went back to using crutches. I currently need a prosthesis. At the moment, people who have tried to help have asked me if I have heard about a prosthesis. I said yes.
“Someone has also told me to measure my leg and send the measurement to him. I have done that and sent it to the person. I am still waiting and hoping in God. Then a man told me to go to a tailor who would measure me from my waist down to my foot.
“I was told that there are varieties of prostheses with different prices. There is one they said I could manage. It will help me to walk. I was told the price is N850,000. There is another one they said I would be free with. I was told that one is N1.5m.
“Then there is another with silicone that will enable me to do anything I want to do. They said that one is N2.5m. I am trusting God that one day, I will be able to get it so that I can be able to walk without hindrance.
“My parents do not really have money.”
Loveth also revealed that her introduction ceremony had taken place just weeks before the accident, but the relationship came to an end shortly afterwards.
She said:
“Yes, the introduction ceremony was on the 23rd of March, and then I had an accident on the 12th of April 2019.
“At first, when he was called, he came to the hospital. After he left, he stopped calling; he stopped checking on me, and that signified the end of the relationship.”
When asked if she later contacted him, Loveth replied:
“Yes, I did, but he said he would not be able to continue with the relationship.”
She added:
“Yes, I was still at the hospital when he told me that. He said he was no longer interested in marrying me.”
Despite the painful experience, Loveth said she found strength in God.
She said:
“(Sighs) I thank God I did not give up or die because I was expecting him to encourage me and not the other way round. But I thank God, I encouraged myself by believing in God that things will surely get better.”
She also disclosed that while some of her friends stood by her, others, including her best friend, abandoned her during her recovery.
She said:
“They visited me, but not all are with me now. Some of them are with me, while others left because of my condition. First, I felt bad that my fiancé left me. It is also painful that my best friend didn’t come to visit me at the hospital at all.
“Till today, my best friend has not checked on me. But all thanks to God Almighty, because it really showed me the kind of people I was dealing with in the past.”
Speaking on whether the driver compensated her after the accident, Loveth said only ₦50,000 was given through the driver’s brother despite her family spending millions on treatment.
She said:
“He did not pay any compensation. The driver did not even come to the hospital; it was his brother who came there. He came with some people, and when my parents began to talk to them, they brought N50,000. But we eventually spent N2.5m on treatment.
“They said they had already sold their land to do the burial of the two ladies who died in the accident.
“When I started shouting at the driver’s brother, he said, ‘I think you want to get married; let me marry you then.’ So, my siblings told them to get up and leave. They did not pay any other money than the N50,000 they brought.
“The doctor told them that they were wrong to have mocked me. The doctor said they made me lose my marriage and a leg.”

I Really Regret It – Man Cries Out After Travelling to Turkey for Dental Treatment, Faces Teeth Problems and £40,000 Repair Bill
Danny Tomlinson said he decided to undergo the procedure after being impressed by the results achieved by a friend who had received similar treatment abroad.

Danny admitted that he carried out little research before travelling for the procedure.
“I didn’t do any research, I just booked it.
“I didn’t want to watch videos or look at the aftermath – I just went on impulse.”
He explained that he underwent the treatment in 2020 and was initially pleased with the results, expecting them to last between five and seven years.
However, he later noticed that some of the teeth were becoming loose.
Six months after the procedure, Danny returned to the clinic in Turkey for further treatment. Over the following years, he made nine return trips as the problems continued.

Speaking about his experience, he said:
“Every time I went back, the clinic didn’t really say anything.
“They just cleaned my teeth and let me go on my way.
“Eventually, they said my bottom teeth would need replacing.”
Danny said he now wishes he had explored other options before undergoing the treatment.
“If I told a UK dentist my plan to have all my teeth shaved down, they would have told me not to have it done.

“I could have just had a brace and I wish that’s what I’d done.
“I really regret it now.
“I should never have done it.”
He added that the condition of his teeth has affected his daily life.
“My teeth move, I can feel it all the time.
“I can’t eat or bite anything and I have to use a knife and fork for burgers.
“I can’t shut my mouth properly so it’s always half open.
“The dentist said they won’t all fall out in five minutes but there’s a risk and the top two front teeth are in the danger zone.”
According to Danny, replacing the damaged implants could cost around £3,000 per tooth, with the total cost of corrective treatment estimated at up to £40,000.
“It’s going to cost me thousands.

“I’ve got to sort it one way or another but I’m not going back to Turkey.
“I don’t know what to do.
“I can afford a few teeth but not £40,000.
“I’m worried sick.
“If my teeth fall out, that’s it.
“I’ll put a mask on and fly wherever I have to go to get them done.”
Warning others about his experience, Danny urged people to carefully consider their options before undergoing cosmetic dental procedures abroad.
“Don’t go to Turkey for dentist work.
“Do not do it.
“Not one dentist in England would have told me to shave my teeth down.
“Don’t get them shaved down when you can just get a brace.
“The prices are going up.
“I’d never recommend one person on this planet to get their teeth done in Turkey.”

I Thought It Was Just Stress – Woman Reveals How Divorce Affected Her Health
A mother has shared how a difficult divorce, combined with the pressure of raising three children and working full-time, led her to notice serious changes in her health and appearance.
The woman, Kristina Hamilton, explained that during this period of intense stress, she began experiencing joint pain and difficulty swallowing. At first, she assumed it was simply exhaustion and emotional strain from everything she was dealing with at the time.

She described how the condition slowly began to affect her body in ways she could not ignore.
She said: “The invasion it was having on my body was relentless
“In medical terms, what I’ve got is a rare and chronic autoimmune disease.
“In my terms, it’s a glitch in the system.
“When my symptoms first started, I honestly thought it was stress and exhaustion.
“At the time, I was going through so much.

“I just ignored it.
“And, I didn’t want to believe something serious was wrong.
“Even when my body started changing, and the pain became harder to ignore, I still tried to push through it because that’s what I’ve always done in life.
“But, deep down, I knew something didn’t feel right.”
After medical evaluation in 2022, she was diagnosed with diffuse systemic scleroderma, a rare autoimmune condition that affects the skin and internal organs.
She described the moment as overwhelming, saying the medical explanation did little to capture what living with the illness actually feels like.
“I had no idea what the condition meant for me – until it started to steal my life.
“As things got worse, I became scared and confused.

I remember looking down at my hands when they started to turn white and feeling confused because I had never seen anything like it before.
“I tried to convince myself it was poor circulation or maybe I was just cold.
“They didn’t feel like my own anymore.
“And then when my teeth started falling out, it was devastating.
“I felt like I was losing parts of myself piece by piece.
“Every time I looked in the mirror, I saw someone I didn’t recognise anymore.”
She added that the changes to her appearance made her avoid taking photos and made everyday social interactions more difficult.
She said: “My hands, once capable of providing medical care to others, began curling into a claw-like position.
“They were frozen and painful.
“I’ve watched helplessly as my weight has dropped to the point where I look like a skeleton.
“Eating is less about hunger now, as I’m not hungry.

“When my appearance began to change, I noticed people reacting differently to me.
“Some stared without realising, while others looked away quickly because they didn’t know what to say.
“There were moments that hurt deeply; whispers, uncomfortable looks and even comments that made me feel self-conscious about changes I couldn’t control.
“I’ve had people assume I was contagious and speak about me with pity instead of understanding.
“It’s been painful, because behind the disease, I’m still the same person.
“I’m a mother, a wife, a friend and someone trying to live life fully.”
Kristina also reflected on the emotional and financial toll of the illness, noting that she had to stop working and adjust to a life filled with uncertainty, fatigue, and ongoing health challenges.

She said learning that the condition was incurable and potentially life-threatening was one of the hardest moments she has ever faced, especially as it affects vital organs and has no clear progression timeline.
Despite everything, she shared that she has chosen to focus on gratitude and the relationships she still has.
Kristina met her now husband, Chris, 44, shortly before her diagnosis. Although she was not searching for a relationship at the time, she said his support came when she needed it most.

As her condition progressed and her appearance changed, he remained by her side and helped her adjust to the uncertainty.
The couple became engaged in May 2024, aware of the urgency brought on by her health situation.
In April 2025, they officially got married in a ceremony supported by Wish Upon a Wedding, a non-profit organization that helped fund their special day.
