Man Admits to Having HIV After Being Arrested for Allegedly S*xually Assaulting 8-Year-Old Boy

A 62-year-old Florida man has been arrested and charged with s**xual battery after authorities say he ass**ulted a 8-year-old victim — and later tested positive for HIV.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Bobby McAffee was taken into custody on Friday following an investigation that began in August 2024, when the victim came forward with allegations of s***xual assault. Although the report states the victim was 8 at the time of the incident, officials have not disclosed the victim’s current age to protect their identity.

Detectives allege that McAffee pinned the victim down, restrained his arms, and s**xually assaulted him. During a police interview, McAffee reportedly admitted to having s**xual contact with the victim and also revealed that he is HIV-positive.

He has been charged with one count of s**xual battery on a child under the age of 12, suggesting that investigators believe the alleged assault occurred when the victim was much younger than initially reported.

McAffee was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Saturday and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

Authorities stated that no further information will be released to protect the identity and privacy of the victim.
