Doctor Shocked After Finding Mushroom Growing Inside Patient Gut During Colonoscopy

A doctor in Taipei, Taiwan, was left stunned after discovering a small mushroom growing inside a patient’s intestine during a routine colonoscopy.

Dr. Lin Xianghong, a gastroenterologist, shared images from the colonoscopy scan on Facebook, where the unusual sight quickly drew widespread attention. The mushroom appeared to be sprouting from undigested food matter inside the patient’s gut.

In his post, Dr. Lin used the shocking find to emphasize the importance of proper eating habits, writing: “Why is there a mushroom growing in the colon?

“Well, that’s not really the case.

“Let’s see why enoki mushrooms are called ‘see you tomorrow’.

“I recently took this image during a colonoscopy.

“It serves to remind everyone that you should always chew your food properly.”
