Man Arrested for Stabbing Hairstylist And Bragging to Police About Getting Away with It

Florida hairstylist Hailey Hosford was tragically stabbed to death in a luxury apartment parking garage by a knife-wielding attacker who later bragged to police that he had “killed someone and walked away.”

The horrifying incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on May 28th at The Retreat at Sawgrass Village in Sunrise, Florida. Hailey had just stepped out of a rental car when she was approached by the armed suspect, later identified as Jackson Sagesse.

According to reports, Hailey tried to escape by jumping into the back seat of the car, but Jackson forcefully opened the door and attacked her.

At the scene, Jackson was briefly spotted outside the car by a male friend of Hailey’s, who had just returned from his apartment. A violent confrontation broke out between the two men, during which Jackson stabbed Hailey’s friend in the throat. Fortunately, the friend managed to escape and call the police.

After the attack, Jackson attempted to flee in the rental car but failed to drive away. Surveillance footage reportedly showed him searching the area, possibly for evidence, before eventually fleeing the scene on foot.

When police arrived, Hailey was found unresponsive in the car, suffering from multiple stab wounds to her neck and throat. She was pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m. Her friend survived but sustained a puncture wound to the throat.

Before her tragic death, Hailey owned a beauty salon in Fort Lauderdale and also worked as a teacher and ambassador for a yoga and retreat company.

Speaking to WSVN, Hailey’s friend Aubrey said: “I know she was a fighter; I believe she fought, and I believe she was scared

“Her very last message to me was, ‘I just wanted to tell you that the sun is shining, the sky is blue, the water is turquoise, and that I love you much, and that you mean the world to me, and that was the very last thing she said.

“She’s not a Jane Doe, and I want the world to know what her name is and who she was. There’s evil, and there’s good, and we lost the good. The good lost.”

Following an extensive search, police arrested Jackson after employees at the Retreat identified his home, which he shares with his mother, to authorities.

When officers took Jackson into custody, he was wearing the same clothes seen in surveillance footage of the person suspected of killing Hailey. During a search of his apartment, investigators discovered bloodstains on the rear door and noticed that two knives were missing from the kitchen’s knife block. The missing knives matched the type believed to have been used in the murder.

During questioning, Jackson reportedly confessed to the killing, telling police, “I just killed someone and walked away.”

Jackson told officers he was on his way to the gym when he noticed a car in the parking garage with its lights on. He said he approached the vehicle and tried to call 911 but didn’t have his phone with him. He claimed he went back to his apartment to grab a kitchen knife for self-defense.

Jackson has been charged with premeditated murder and attempted first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bond at Broward County Jail.
