Boat Explosion on River Thames Leaves 9 Injured, Including a Baby

Tragedy struck on the banks of the River Thames in London as a boat exploded, leaving nine people—including a baby—rushed to the hospital.

The fire is believed to have started from an explosion on a residential vessel, although the exact cause has not yet been confirmed.

According to police, all nine people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. The baby was airlifted to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children for urgent medical care. Another victim was flown to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with two air ambulances, six regular ambulances, and several fire engines called to the scene to tackle the blaze and provide aid.

Speaking about the incident, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We responded to a reported fire on a residential boat in the River Thames near Lechlade just before midday on Saturday (May 31).

“Nine people sustained injuries and were transported to hospital. 

” A section of the river was closed and enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
