Two Men Dies After Undergoing Hair Transplant Performed by Dentist in India

Two men in India have tragically died following hair transplant procedures allegedly performed by a dentist.

The victims, 37-year-old Vinit Kumar Dubey and 32-year-old Mayank Katiyar, both underwent the surgeries at a clinic in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The procedures were reportedly carried out by Dr. Anushka Tiwari, a dentist with no known certification in cosmetic or transplant surgery.

Following the deaths, Dr. Tiwari was arrested by police and appeared in a local court on Monday, facing charges of culpable homicide.

Dubey was the first to die. He visited the clinic, named Empire, for the transplant and reportedly died two days later after being diagnosed with a severe brain infection.

Mayank, the second victim, developed facial swelling and reportedly endured severe pain before passing away as well.
In a police report, Mayank’s wife, Jaya Tripathi, described the pain her husband suffered and expressed outrage over the unqualified procedure that led to his death.

She said: “His face was so swollen, it looked like a balloon. His eyes were bulging out. I couldn’t even recognize him.

“He had just completed his PhD and received a job offer from a top US firm. He wanted to surprise me with his new look.

She also shared that she tried to contact the dentist when her husband’s condition started to get worse.

She added while telling NDTV: “‘We called again Dr Anushka Tiwari the same night around 11 and she admitted that she performed the surgery without a test”

She also revealed that when she filed the complaint, the police didn’t take any action for almost two months.

Eventually, this led the police to launch a search for Anushka, conducting raids and tracking her across several states. Her phone was later traced to Rohtak and Panipat, but she remained untraceable for a long time. This week, however, she finally surrendered herself to the court.

During her arrest, Anushka claimed she wasn’t the one who performed the surgeries and instead blamed another doctor for what happened.

Commenting on the arrest, state lawyer Dilip Singh said: “There are serious allegations against Anushka Tiwari, a dentist, who performed a surgery outside her professional domain,’ said state lawyer Dilip Singh.

“She surrendered in court today and has been sent to jail”
