Kristy Crampton has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse after allegedly striking a child during a flight departing from Sanford-Orlando International Airport in Sanford, Florida.

The incident occurred on an Allegiant Airlines flight on May 26th. According to reports, the disturbance began when a child allegedly called Crampton “fat” and referred to her as “Miss Piggy.” In response, Crampton reportedly became aggressive.

The situation escalated to the point that the pilot contacted authorities, requesting police intervention upon landing. Officers met the aircraft, and Crampton and others involved were escorted off the plane.

In her statement to police, Crampton admitted to smacking the child, claiming the child had been disrespectful, rude, and was misbehaving. She also said she had initially taken the child’s phone before things escalated.

According to Eye witnesses, Crampton first struck the child with her fist and a water bottle, then slammed the child’s head against the airplane window

“The woman was not correcting the child,” a witness told police.

“She was abusing them.” Eyewitness said

Although the flight attendant did not witness the incident firsthand, authorities have confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the case.

The children, whose ages have not been disclosed, were reportedly part of a group visiting Florida to experience Disney World.

Kristy, the flight attendant in question, was arrested on May 27th. Following a hearing before a Seminole County judge, she was released on a $10,000 bond. As part of her release conditions, she has been ordered not to have any contact with the child involved at this time.
