Prison Guards Catch Drug-Smuggling Cat, Arrests It

A cat has been “arrested” after being caught smuggling drugs into a Costa Rican prison. The black-and-white feline was found with a stash of crack cocaine and marijuana tied to its back, according to a statement shared by Costa Rica’s Justice Ministry on Facebook.

The kitty was carrying over 230 grams of marijuana and 67 grams of crack cocaine — all intended for inmates at Pococí prison.

“Thanks to the quick actions of acting officers, the cat was able to be caught… thus preventing them from reaching their final destination,” the ministry said in the statement.

A video posted to their Facebook page shows the moment a prison guard spotted the cat and climbed a fence to intercept it. The feline was found with two separate plastic packages strapped to its body — marijuana on one side, crack on the other.

Prison guards used scissors to remove the tightly wrapped plastic bags from the cat’s back, bringing the bizarre drug-smuggling attempt to an end.
