22-Year-Old Model Shot Dead Outside Her Home

22-year-old model María José Estupiñán Sánchez was shot and killed by a man posing as a delivery courier.

The incident occurred on May 15, when María stepped outside her home to receive what she believed was a package. Instead, she was gunned down, with the fatal bullet striking her in the cheekbone.

Authorities suspect her murder may be linked to a recent domestic violence case involving her ex-partner. Earlier this month, María testified against him at the prosecutor’s office, and she was reportedly on the verge of receiving a financial settlement of 30 million Colombian pesos (approximately £5,400).

Sources indicate that the ex-partner, who had previously been reported multiple times for abuse since 2018, is the prime suspect. Police believe he may have orchestrated the killing.

María José was not only a model affiliated with a local agency but also a entrepreneur who ran several online businesses selling sportswear, lingerie, and footwear. 

She was also pursuing a degree in media studies and was in her seventh term at Francisco de Paula Santander University.
