17-Year-Old Girl Dies by Suicide Over Exam Result

A 17-year-old girl, P. Arthiga, from Padugai village in India, has sadly died by suicide, reportedly due to anxiety and pressure related to her exam performance.

Her body was found near her family’s cattle shed on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. According to reports, the incident occurred after her father, P. Punniyamurthy, expressed disappointment and criticized her for what he believed was a poor performance in her school examinations.

Tragically, Arthiga took her own life before the exam results were even released. When the results came out last Thursday, it was revealed that she had actually scored 413 out of 600.

The Papanasam Police have confirmed they have registered a case and are actively investigating the girl’s death.
