22-Year-Old Nurse Found Guilty of Child Cruelty at London Nursery After CCTV Evidence

Roksana Lecka, a 22-year-old nurse from Hounslow, has been found guilty of child cruelty after CCTV footage captured her physically harming toddlers at the Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, south-west London.

The incidents occurred between January and June of last year. Lecka was accused of punching and aggressively grabbing children under her care. Her behavior raised concerns among staff members, leading to an internal investigation and subsequent police involvement.

Despite being charged with 22 counts of child cruelty, Lecka pleaded not guilty to most of the allegations at Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court. However, she did admit to two counts involving a boy and a girl.

During the trial, the court was shown CCTV footage as part of the prosecution’s evidence. In one video, Lecka was seen flicking her foot into the face of a young boy who was lying on a mattress in the nursery’s sleep room.

Prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC addressed the jury, stating: “She kicks him four times to the face and then steps on his shoulder, causing him to cry and then kicks him in the face again.

‘She pinches him to the mouth and nose and right arm and touches him to the face, causing him to cry. She pinches the right side of his torso and his right arm, nose and stomach and then gets up and leaves.’

In another piece of CCTV footage shown in court, a disturbing scene captured Roksana Lecka rocking a little girl back and forth before striking her twice. In yet another clip, she was seen engaging in what prosecutors described as “brutal treatment” of a young boy while he was in the sleep room.

Prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC continued her address to the jury, stating:”‘She kicks the mattress towards him and he falls over.
“She then pulls him onto the mattress face first.

“The defendant pinches him to the arm and he begins to cry and she pinches him to the chest and then again to the chest and again.

“She pinches his right arm, then under his elbow then to his left side. She pinches his stomach and he bursts into tears and then she looks around and pinches him twice in the back.

“She appears to kiss him and pinch his cheek, causing him to flinch and pinches his left leg twice.

The jury heard that the children suffered injuries such as scratches on their faces and necks, as well as pinch marks on their inner legs and stomachs.

Ms. Lecka, who is also facing a separate charge of cruelty from a different location, broke down in tears as the charges were read out in court.

Nursery staff are expected to testify later. The trial is still ongoing.
