Baby Dies and Cousin Falls Ill After Eating Poisoned Granola Sent Through Delivery Service

A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Brazil, where a baby and her cousin reportedly fell critically ill after consuming what is suspected to be poisoned granola, delivered by a mystery sender.

According to reports, Geisa de Cássia Tenório Silva and baby Yohana Maitê Filgueira Costa became sick after eating açaí and granola that had been gifted to them and delivered to their home by a dispatch rider on April 14, 2025.

Both were rushed to the hospital, but tragically, baby Yohana passed away. As of Thursday, April 24, Geisa remains hospitalized in the ICU of a hospital in Macaíba, located west-southwest of Natal, Brazil. She is intubated and undergoing diagnostic tests. Her condition is described as serious but stable.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the consumed food has been sent for toxicology analysis, though the results are still pending.”The food that was consumed has been sent for toxicology testing, but the forensic report hasn’t been completed yet. “There is a possibility of poisoning, but at this stage, it would be premature to make any definitive statements.” They added

Geisa’s son, Yago smith shared with investigators that they had received anonymous deliveries from dispatch riders on three different days. On April 13, Geisa reportedly received a teddy bear and some chocolates, which she ate without any adverse effects. The following day, another package arrived containing granola, which she shared with baby Yohana. Shortly after consuming it, both became violently ill.

On April 15, Geisa briefly felt better, but later received another delivery—this time containing açaí. Within 15 minutes of eating it, she fell ill again and had to be taken to the emergency room. She was later transferred to a larger hospital for intensive treatment.

Yago said: “She was sweating heavily, her hands were trembling, she didn’t have the strength to say anything, and was foaming at the mouth.

“That’s when they started to suspect it might be poisoning.”
