Eugenio, who was hired as a greeter and personal assistant for Kylie during the 2023 Met Gala, shared his experience in a recent interview with Casino.org. His role was to assist the reality star and beauty mogul with anything she needed as she made her way through the event.
According to him, Kylie instructed him to take a few steps back—specifically “five steps away”—while she posed for photos on the red carpet. Eugenio complied, but later found himself being accused of photobombing her shots and allegedly trying to upstage her.
The backlash from the incident, he says, ultimately cost him his job.
He said: “I don’t think that’s even photobombing because I was assigned to her. If you see other celebrities, they’re always assigned to someone. You probably just didn’t notice the greeter next to them. Kylie gave me a tip before we went on the red carpet
“Don’t get too far from me, or it’ll look weird, like you’re chasing me. But don’t stay too close, or it’ll look like we’re dating.
“Looking back on it now, that was honestly so true. She wanted me to stay five steps away from her, so that’s how we did it.
Speaking on how fans accused him of trying to ruin her image, he shared: “I wasn’t pretending to be her date or anything, I was literally just there, holding her bag. That’s what I was paid to do. I wasn’t looking at the camera.
