Police Officer Dies After Battle With Cancer

Indiana is mourning the loss of one of its brave officers, 32-year-old Anderson Vilma, who passed away on April 3rd after a battle with cancer.

Officer Vilma joined the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) on September 2, 2022. He served on the East District’s middle shift patrol, where he was known for his dedication and commitment to the community. Paying tribute, IMPD Deputy Chief Kendall Adams said: “Officer Vilma was a great example of a young dedicated, committed and courageous public servant”

He passed away not long after being appointed on September 2, 2022, and assigned to the East District’s middle shift patrol.
