Nigerian Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Raping and Murdering 61-Year-Old Woman in Italy

A Nigerian man, Chukwuka Nweke, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Italy for the rape and murder of 61-year-old Iris Setti.

Reports indicate that Nweke, who was known to use drugs, brutally attacked Setti in a public park in the northeastern Italian city of Rovereto, Trento, on the evening of August 5, 2023.

During the attack, he threw her to the ground and repeatedly struck her face and head with his fists and a blunt object.

Shortly after the incident, members of the Carabinieri spotted Nweke near Via Maioliche. When he resisted arrest, officers were forced to use tasers to subdue him.

Setti was found unconscious at the scene and rushed to the hospital, but sadly, she was pronounced dead hours later due to the severity of her injuries.

During the trial, The ANSA Italy reported that Nweke was found guilty of aggravated murder, robbery, and sexual violence. He was sentenced last week to life imprisonment.
