Child Fighting for Life as Bridge Collapse, Over 5 Injured

A child is fighting for their life after a bridge collapsed while vehicles were crossing.

The incident took place at the Cabagan-Santa Maria Bridge, near Tuguegarao, north of Manila, in the Philippines. At least five people were injured, and four vehicles were damaged.

According to the police, an overloaded tipper lorry carrying 102 tonnes of stone is suspected to have caused the collapse.

The moment of the disaster was captured on a dashcam, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.

Reacting to the tragedy, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office – Cabagan released a statement, saying: ” “Four vehicles were involved in the incident, including a dump truck, two SUVs, and a motorcycle.

“The PNP Cabagan is continuing to gather details about the dump truck involved in the incident.

“Meanwhile, the Municipal Engineering Department of LGU Cabagan is coordinating with the DPWH to assess the overall damage to the collapsed section of the bridge.”
