Twins Left Orphaned After Mother Dies Two Years Following Father’s Death

Twin sisters Isabelle and Emmy have been tragically left orphaned after the death of their mother, Hannah Whitsell, following a battle with breast cancer. Hannah passed away on January 14, just two weeks after discovering a lump under her arm.

The heartbreaking loss comes just months after the twins’ father passed away in May 2023.

According to family members, Hannah initially tried to hide her diagnosis from her 11-year-old daughters. Despite her efforts, she underwent intense treatment, including chemotherapy and a double mastectomy in August 2024, followed by full lymph node removal. By September 12, the family celebrated her being given the all-clear.

However, their joy was short-lived. Just one month later, the cancer returned aggressively, spreading to her bones.

In December 2024, Hannah was admitted to the hospital with fluid in her lungs and pneumonia but was able to return home to spend a final Christmas with her children. Unfortunately, her health worsened after complications from pneumonia, the HMPV virus, and sepsis, leading to her passing.

speaking to the BirminghamLive, Hannah brother, Thomas said: ‘They loved their mum and didn’t spend more than two days away from Hannah and the only time they did was when she was in hospital, they were obsessed with her.”

Thomas added: “After losing their dad, Hannah was their world – she was such a good mum. She did everything with them and took them everywhere. Just an active mum like a super mum. They said that they’d been worried about their dad being on his own in heaven, but now mummy was there to look after daddy and vice versa. Hannah was so unlucky with things. It is so rare how aggressive the cancer came back and the treatments just weren’t working. She became extremely frail and then all the complications were horrible to watch.”
