Pastor Dies After Being Kicked by Man During Deliverance Session

A tragic incident occurred in Uganda when Pastor John Michael Ekamu, of Agule Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) in Serere District, died after being kicked while performing an exorcism.  

The incident happened during a Christmas Eve prayer vigil on Tuesday evening, December 24th. Simon Ogwang, a church member believed to be possessed by demons, had been brought to the pastor by his parents for deliverance.  

During the exorcism, Pastor Ekamu was kicked by Ogwang. Despite collapsing briefly, he rose and continued the deliverance. However, later in the program, he collapsed again while addressing his congregation. When church members tried to take him to the hospital, he refused, insisting that the “devil has been defeated.”  

As his condition worsened, he was eventually rushed to Serere Health Center IV. An X-ray revealed a cut in his pancreas. Despite undergoing surgery and efforts to save him, Pastor Ekamu unfortunately passed away.  

Police were called to investigate the circumstances of his death. Simon Ogwang, the individual undergoing deliverance, was arrested and detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
