Brother of Late Ernest Asuzu Shot in South Africa

Chinedu Stanley Asuzu, the brother of late actor Ernest Asuzu, was murdered in South Africa.

Reports reveal that he was shot dead at his residence in Johannesburg on December 16, 2024. His death was confirmed by the Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) on December 22.

In a statement signed by NUSA’s National Publicity Secretary, Akindele Olunloyo, the organization condemned the killing of the late father of four and assured that they are actively supporting his family during this difficult time.

The statement also mentioned that, according to NUSA President-General Hon. Smart Nwobi, initial investigations revealed that the deceased and his ex-wife were in the middle of divorce proceedings, which included disputes over asset division.

The statement reads below…………

“The NUSA President-General attempted to reach Mrs Busisiwe Sibanyoni, via telephone but was unsuccessful. A WhatsApp message was sent; however, she had not responded at the time of this report’s compilation,” the statement read.

“A witness who was at the scene of the shooting incident was contacted and provided the investigating officer’s details. NUSA’s legal team followed up with the officer confirming that a murder investigation has been launched and remains active.

“NUSA’s legal team is gathering information and liaising with the family,” the statement partly read.

“NUSA is providing comprehensive support to the bereaved family. We strongly condemn this act of violence and urge South African law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice. To our Nigerian community in South Africa: Stay safe, stay connected.”

A man named Mr. Ade has raised concerns, calling on Nigerians and the Nigerian Embassy to intervene, claiming that the body of the late Chinedu Stanley Asuzu has been seized by his ex-wife, Busisiwe Sibanyoni.

According to reports, the incident occurred after Busisiwe informed Chinedu that she was coming to pick up their children, despite it being his scheduled day to spend time with them. Shortly after she left with the kids, armed gunmen reportedly stormed his house and fatally shot him.

Mr. Ade also alleged that the couple’s divorce was prompted by Busisiwe’s misuse of Chinedu’s finances. He claimed she had full access to his accounts and properties, as all assets were registered in her name. This arrangement was reportedly due to Chinedu’s inability to open a bank account at the time because he lacked permanent residency in South Africa.
Additionally, Mr. Ade mentioned that a friend of Busisiwe contacted him via direct message, revealing that she was refusing to release Chinedu’s body. The ex-wife allegedly fears that his family might use voodoo rituals on the corpse, causing the spirit of the deceased to haunt those responsible for his death.
