I fired my employee going through divorce and when it is finalize, I would rehire him- Man
Yashdeep Kanhai, an Indian man, recently shared a controversial decision on LinkedIn. He revealed that he fired an employee who was going through a messy divorce.
Kanhai explained that he made this decision to prevent the employee from facing financial hardship during the divorce proceedings. He reasoned that the employee would have no income until the divorce was finalized.
Kanhai added that he intends to rehire the employee once the divorce is settled.
He wrote: “I Fired an Employee Going Through a Tough Divorce 💔💼
One of my employees was stuck in a messy divorce—his wife demanded half his income. 😵💸 As a good boss, I couldn’t just stand by.
So, I did the most compassionate thing possible: I fired him. 🚪👋
Why? 🤔
No income = no alimony. 🤑💡 The divorce was finalized with negligible alimony, and financial ruin was averted.
Once the dust settled, I rehired him. 🫡 Now, he’s back—better than ever—with a clean slate and no ex-spouse draining his paycheck.
Being a leader isn’t about making easy decisions—it’s about making smart ones. 💼💡”
