Girls from Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda criticized me for dating a White woman
A Kenyan man named Teddy has opened up about the criticism he has faced, with some people saying he wouldn’t succeed in life without his American girlfriend, Alexy.
Alexy’s Love for Kenya
When asked about her connection to Kenya and Washington, D.C., Alexy shared, “I came to Kenya in 2019 because I attended university here through a study abroad program. That’s how I fell in love with Kenya.”

On adapting to cultural differences, she added, “I didn’t experience culture shock when i got here the first time, I got so welcomed by everyone I made the best friends I have ever made in my entire life i don’t know it just felt like where by heart was when i first came in 2019 which is what brought me back I didn’t really feel like a huge shock where we are coming from and culture is booming together It hasn’t really felt like a big jump because we understand each other so well and we really have a good friendship.”
Their Social Media Presence
Alexy also spoke about how she feels when Teddy posts about her online. “I also feel like we see a lot of those on social media and social media is really fake It is like the highlights of everyone life and people who sees us in public knows that what we post is real and we are very affectionate in person and that is one thing that I value I don’t mind if people are snipping into our lives as far that it is authentic because i never want it to be unauthentic like on my youtube and his instagram i don’t want be looking like we are all good if we are having a bad day.”
Teddy on Handling Criticism
Teddy reflected on the online criticism he receives, saying, “I know girls like to talk its a good thing about and it makes girls special there is something about kenyans, nigerians, ugandans on the internet and i expected critics and still expecting more and most of the times, I don’t normally mind what people say first of all being with alexy, people said maybe i don’t like to be with dark skinned ladies I get hate comments where people say you don’t appreciate where you come from or you don’t like your mom so first thing i expect that how human beings will react based on that but most times i don’t really care.”
