Popular doctor shot dead less than 24hrs after giving Presentation at a event

Dr. Olga Duchon, a famous doctor, was tragically shot and killed on Sunday evening in Barrington, Illinois.  

NBC Chicago reports that the 42-year-old was fatally shot around 5:40 p.m. in the 400 block of West Russell Street. 

Authorities revealed she was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. An autopsy confirmed she died from a single gunshot wound to her chest.  

Before her death, Dr. Duchon was the founder of HLS Endocrinology Care in Mundelein and was board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, and Obesity Medicine.

Less than 24 hours before her death, she served as a guest speaker at a meeting hosted by the Ukrainian Medical Association of North America, reflecting her active role in the medical community.  

In a statement, Northwestern Medicine honored Dr. Duchon’s memory, stating:  “Dr. Duchon left our health system last summer (2023). However, she remained affiliated with our organization as a member of our medical staff and continued to treat patients independently.

“We are learning about this tragic event in real time and we are devastated to hear this news. Our sympathies go out to her family during this difficult time.”
