Family dog rips off owner face while trying to Console her
Korinne Mostensen shared her story of a traumatic incident with her four-year-old dog, Niko, whose behavior changed drastically due to a brain tumor.
In November 2022, while trying to console her dog, Niko, Korinne was shocked when he suddenly clamped his jaw onto her nose, ripping off a portion of it.
While she was Rushed to Lone Peak Hospital in Utah, doctors found her nose broken with a quarter-sized piece missing.
Korinne revealed that Niko had begun experiencing seizures, but he had never shown aggression before the attack. A veterinary examination later confirmed he had an aggressive brain tumor, explaining the unexpected behavioral change.
Despite the permanent scar and the shocking nature of the event, Korinne says she doesn’t blame Niko for the attack, attributing it instead to his health condition.
She said: “We’d had Niko for four years and he was the world’s perfect dog and had never done anything wrong.
“He was having a few health issues and he’d had a couple of seizures but at this point he hadn’t been aggressive.
“We were planning on taking him to the vets but his appointment wasn’t for another few weeks.
“We were just relaxing as a family and he [the dog] had had one of these weird little episodes so I got down to make sure he was okay and just out of nowhere I saw his face come at mine.
“It was half a second. It was so fast and one bite. It all happened so fast and I was in shock as I never imagined my sweet little dog would do this.
“I remember I ran to the bathroom and all I saw was blood. I knew it was bad but I hadn’t felt the pain yet as I was in shock.”
“My nose looked horrible and I hated it. The bone in my nose had been completely broken in half and then he [my dog] had bitten a chunk underneath.
“It was deformed and you could see a chunk out of it from the side. I was really self-conscious about it. I found it hard to look in the mirror at myself.”
She continued: “After the injury, we first thought that we were going to have to take our dog to the vets and get it put down as we couldn’t have it in the house when we had children.
“But after we calmed down, we then thought that maybe there is something wrong with him and we could find out what and get our dog back.
“Before we rushed to conclusions we gave him the benefit of the doubt and took him to the vets to see if he could be fixed.
“In the meantime we muzzle trained him and anytime he was out he wore a muzzle.
“We then took him to a veterinary neurological specialist. He was getting worse at this point and was having more seizures.
“He then started getting aggressive with our other dog and we had to have him in a muzzle 24/7 and we felt so bad about this.
“We went and spoke to the specialist and they confidently said that they believed him to have an aggressive brain tumour that was making him behave this way.
“How fast he was going down hill, there wasn’t a lot they could do for him so we decided to put him down as this was the best option as it wasn’t fair on him.”
she added: “For us, I’m really glad we got that closure because every time I would have looked at my nose, there would have been this anger there and thinking all these horrible things.
“But we got closure and can now remember the good memories and the four years of the perfect dog we had.”

The woman, identified as Samantha Redding, recalled how what was supposed to be a brief visit to a friend’s father’s house turned into a life-changing experience.
According to Samantha, she had gone to the house to pick up her friend, only to discover that she had already left to meet her at Samantha’s home.
She said she had spent only about 10 minutes inside the house and was preparing to leave when the dog suddenly attacked her.
“I was only in the house for about 10 minutes and I was getting ready to leave.
“I went to pick up my bag and the dog latched on to my face.
“The dog had never been nippy to me before.
“I actually can’t remember much from then except the dog growling and then the pain.
“Then I heard everyone shouting.
“I can’t remember how the dog got off.
“All I can remember is turning round after and seeing my face in the mirror and thinking my life was over.
“The dog was huge, taller than me when it stands on its back legs and probably weighs around the same as me, but it had never been nippy to me before.”
After the attack, Samantha managed to leave the house and contact her parents while she was being taken for medical treatment.
She said her parents initially thought she was joking when she called them because of the severity of what had happened.
“I facetimed them and all they said was they’d meet me at A&E.
“I wasn’t feeling much pain but I think that was the shock.
“My mum burst into tears when she saw me
“That’s when I realised how bad it was
“My face looked like something from a horror movie.
“I looked like a zombie and honestly I couldn’t see it getting better.
“There are times I wish the dog had killed me so I wouldn’t have to go through all of the operations.
“I thought I would look like a monster for the rest of my life.”
Doctors warned she needed several operations
Samantha was later transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where specialists assessed the extent of her injuries.
Doctors took her into theatre to clean the wounds and determine how badly her face had been damaged.
She was informed that she would need between three and four major operations as surgeons worked to reconstruct her face.
For Samantha, the prospect of undergoing repeated surgeries while dealing with the physical and emotional effects of the attack was overwhelming.
She said: “This was terrifying.
“I was in constant pain, unable to eat except through a tube and my mental health was obviously taking a dip.
“I was told my next surgery would be a week later, as I needed lots of IV antibiotics before.
“They were going to have to take a graft from my arm to put on my face and a graft from my leg to cover the one on my arm.
“They were also taking veins from my arm to give me blood flow to the new patch on my face.
“I would need a tracheotomy as the operation would be almost 10 hours and I would be in the ICU after.”
Samantha said the consequences of those few minutes have continued to affect almost every part of her life.
She explained that she stayed away from her younger brothers for several weeks because she was afraid her injuries would frighten them.
She said: “My whole life has been affected by those ten minutes.
“I didn’t see my little brothers for five weeks as I didn’t want to scare them.
“All my family was amazing but I could tell they were terrified as well.
“Tesco has been amazing in supporting me through this.
“They gave me a career break, which gives me a full year off, so I know my job will be there when I’m ready to go back.
“I think the hardest part is getting through all the surgeries.
“I get used to how I look and get a little confidence back and then it changes again after every surgery.”
Although Samantha has undergone several procedures and continues to recover, she said the psychological effects of the attack remain difficult.
She still experiences memories of the moment the dog attacked her and said looking at her reflection can be painful.
She added:
“I get flashbacks of the dog’s face jumping up at me.
“I’ll always remember how hard life was in the hospital.
“When I look in the mirror, I hate it.
“As of now, all of the lacerations have been stitched and my skin graft is healing nicely.
“I still don’t have a lip.
“I just need to trust the process even though it can feel like it’s going nowhere. I can see the difference from January to now.
“I wish I could look normal again and just hope that the doctors and specialists can help me feel like myself again.”

The woman, identified as Yenifer García Valencia, died on August 15 after undergoing a session to complete a large tattoo covering her lower back and part of her buttocks.
Claudia said:
“The tattoo was very large and was on her lower back, and she couldn’t cope with the pain without anaesthetic.
“She’d already had several sessions, I think two or three. So she decided to find someone who could give her anaesthetic.”
Claudia said Yenifer was introduced to a man who was presented to her as an anaesthetist, and she hired him to administer the medication during the tattoo session.
She added:
“As far as I understand, he didn’t inject her just once. He gave her another injection each time she said she was still in pain.
“They only found about two types of medication, and he said he had only administered one of them, which apparently is used to make tusi – or is an anaesthetic used for animals.”
When paramedics arrived at the scene, they reportedly found a box of Ketamin-50, a bottle of Dormicum containing midazolam, a used syringe and sterile powder intended for injectable solution.
Yenifer’s husband, Jonathan Cantor, told local media that the man hired to administer the drugs was questioned during the emergency response about what he had given her.
The man reportedly mentioned ketamine and several other medications, although the exact substances and amounts administered to Yenifer have not been established.
The man was identified as Juan Jaider Sánchez Goes. He reportedly charged COP 600,000 for administering the injections.

Zambian Model Lisa Mutambo Dies After Falling Unconscious and Vomiting Following Night Out With her Female Friends

News of her death was reported at Chelstone Police Station at about 09:30 hours on Thursday, August 2026. Police said Lisa died between 03:30 and 04:30 hours at Victoria Hospital.
Following her death, claims circulated on social media suggesting that the model may have been beaten. However, police said no injuries were found on her body.
According to police deputy spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha, Lisa had spent the evening with two female friends at a hotel in Lusaka where she reportedly served as an ambassador.
Police said that between 02:30 and 03:00 hours, Lisa’s boyfriend, identified as Caleb Lisa and also known as Andrea Andrew Chimba on Facebook, arrived and picked up the three women.
He reportedly dropped Lisa’s two friends in the Minestone/Casanova area before taking Lisa to the residence they shared in Kalundu.
After they arrived home, Lisa reportedly began vomiting before suddenly becoming unconscious.
Her boyfriend then contacted a friend, who assisted in taking her to Victoria Hospital. However, Lisa was pronounced dead when she arrived at the hospital.
Her body was initially taken to FSG Mortuary before later being transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted.
