Man miraculously survives, Swam in Ocean for 19hours after falling off Cargo ship

A sailor has made a miraculous survival after swimming for 19 hours when he fell overboard from a cargo ship about 8 km off the Australian coast.

The young crew member, who is in his 20s, reportedly fell from the bulk carrier *Double Delight* near Newcastle around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday. He swam all night until Friday, enduring rough waters.

Fortunately, two fishermen spotted him on Friday and pulled him aboard their small vessel.

One of the fishermen, Glen Valaire, who is also a doctor, shared that while they were out on the water, his crew members called out, alerting him to someone in the water.

“‘My friend said to me ”Glen, Glen, there’s someone in the water” it was just an absolute miracle that we came across this guy.” Dr Valaire told Nine News.

He added: “He was so fatigued he had to lay down in the back of the boat, he was freezing cold, had a weak pulse, super pale and we were concerned for him.”

An NSW Ambulance spokesperson told Daily Mail that when the sailor was rescued, paramedics met him and the fishermen at Boatrowers Reserve at Blacksmiths Beach in Swansea around 6:30 p.m. on Friday for treatment.

Police were also on the scene and, upon searching the sailor, found his ID, wallet, and a pack of cigarettes in a sealed plastic bag strapped to him.

The Border Force stated they are now investigating to determine whether he may have gone overboard intentionally.
