I won’t date a man unless he has undergone therapy- Anna Kendrick says after 7yrs of failed relationship

In a recent episode of “Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy” podcast, American actress Anna Kendrick opened up about her past abusive relationship and her new dating standards.

The Pitch Perfect star revealed that after enduring a seven-year emotionally abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Simon, she now sets a firm boundary for her future relationships. Anna stated that she won’t date a man unless he’s undergone therapy.

Explaining, she said: “It was like pushing myself off a cliff and not giving myself the time to go, ‘Is this a good choice?’ It was really scary and personal.

When asked about her role in the movie Alice, Darling (2022), she shared that she didn’t tell anyone about her decision to take on the role—not even her friends or therapist—because the story was similar to her past failed relationship with her ex.

she added: “And I didn’t want anybody to tell me to not do it.

“It was like an overnight switch. That went on for about a year. It didn’t follow that more traditional – it’s like a frog in boiling water thing where it started slow. It came out of absolutely nowhere but was built on this foundation of I had so much love and trust for that person.

“I thought it had to be me. If one of us was crazy it has to be me.

“It was very, very difficult to actually go, ‘No, I think this is him. I think this is his stuff.”
