Nigerian woman cries out after mistakenly borrowing N2.5M instead of N2,500 from Loan app

A Nigerian woman has found herself in a difficult situation after accidentally borrowing N2.5 million instead of N2,500.

According to a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by her nephew, the woman has been unable to sleep since the incident. After taking the loan, she discovered that the loan app now expects her to repay N6.8 million, which includes N4.2 million in interest.

Calling out the loan app on X, she wrote: “Please @fairmoney_ng, my aunt was only trying to take out a loan of ₦2,500, why did you guys approve a loan of ₦2 million for her? And as if that’s not okay, y’all added an interest of ₦4.6 million extra? She had returned the money. Is there a way her dashboard can be cleared? To actually pay ₦6.8 something million.”
