I grew up in a Cult- Noah Lyles

Olympic star Noah Lyles recently opened up about his childhood, revealing that he grew up in a Religious cult. 

During an interview on the “Everybody Wants to Be Us” podcast, Lyles shared that his family was part of a strict church group that exerted significant control over its members. 

The group dictated who people could date, required mothers to homeschool their children, and reinforced the idea that fathers were the “head of the household.”

Lyles described the environment as highly controlling, saying, “It was a cult, it just wasn’t at the level of, Yeah, okay, we’re gonna drink the Kool-Aid.

“But it was super strict.” He also mentioned that even now, his mother struggles to trust churches but never lost her faith in religion, a belief she passed on to him and his siblings. 

He continued: “Even now, she still struggles to trust churches in general, but she never lost her faith in the religion and I think instilled that in us. “It made it easier for me to go throughout my own journey.”
