Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Doyin David, has stated that a woman should have between ₦5-10 million in her account before considering marriage.

She made this statement during an episode of her podcast, Doyin’s Corner, where she was joined by her colleague, Chizzy.

When asked to explain her stance, Doyin emphasized that once a woman starts having children, her financial responsibilities increase. She highlighted expenses such as food, childcare, and the rising cost of living as key reasons why financial stability is essential before marriage.

Using her upbringing as example, she said: ‘“At whatever level you are, you need to save up some money. For example, after my dad died, he left a lot of money. I never got to do anything. Up till now, I don’t even take public transport. I don’t know how to do all these house chores because of how I was brought up”.

“Assuming if my mother didn’t have money saved up. What will have happened? Because it took a while to access my dad’s money after his death. I didn’t feel the absence of my dad until after years because my mum took over the responsibilities”.
