I’m 31yrs old, I don’t have a husband or children, I became bald after I turned down a man marriage proposal

A woman named Mariam has shared her experience of becoming bald after refusing a marriage proposal.

According to her, she neither shaved her head nor had any cancer. The hair loss began after she turned down a marriage proposal arranged by her parents.

Narrating, she said: “When i was 18yr old, a man came to our home wanting to marry me, he was ready and he had done everything he could to show to show me his love and his intention to make me his wife however i had another boyfriend who i don’t want to hurt so i couldn’t leave him for a man i didn’t know the man spoke to my father and mother about the marriage and they agreed to it, they then told me to prepare for a wedding but i refused telling them i didn’t love him my parents became angry at me and the man i rejected found out that i had refused to marry him.

Her mother, Zainab on her part said: “my daughter was born healthy just like other children when she became an adult, a man came and wanted to marry her her father was still alive and we as her a parents were happy to see someone interested in marrying our daughter we found the man to be good hearted and wealthy as he agreed to provide the dowry and everything required however when we told our daughter about the arrangement, she refused and told us she didn’t like him we were very shocked by her refusal especially since we had agreed with the man we didn’t know what to do but we didn’t think there will be any  negative consequences 

How he threatened to ruin her, Mariam said: “One day when i was casually walking on the streets i met the man i had rejected he said very strong threatening words saying you denied being my wife i will do something to you that you will never forget in your entire life then i relied you wont do anything he immediately told me if you don’t believe it wait a little and you will see.

“Days passed and one day i was sitting with my mother i had very long hair and i took a brush to style it but when i pressed the brush to my head all my hair fell out my mom saw it and was shocked she asked me what had happened i replied her that i didn’t know either, we couldn’t believe what we were seeing I immediately asked my mother to braid my hair.”

Her mother continued: “At that time i was very scared i started to braid her hair but each time i touched it it immediately fell out her head we thought she might be dreaming because she usually had a lot of hair like most girls do we waited for her father to come home to see what had happened when we arrived we told him and he was shocked we all wondered what could have caused this her father asked her but she had no idea of what happened which was true because i was with her the whole time her grandfather on her father said was a traditional doctor so we went to see and find out hat was wrong with her”

Mariam on her part said: As soon as awe arrived, my grandfather looked at me and said i needed a ritual, he prepared his equipment and told us that a man had cursed me despite his efforts, there was no solution we returned home and i hoped my hair would eventually grow back.

“Dad saw what was happening and decided to take me to another witch doctor we went there but despite his efforts, nothing changed a few days later i found that my head was completely bald with no hair left i was very worried about my hair not growing back then my father died and i was left with only my mother life became harder and no man approached me fortunately i had a chance to fall in love with another guy who loved me and wanted to marry me but because of my hair he eventually left me to he always asked why i didn’t have hair i kept lying saying that i shaved it and it would grow back but as time passed and people talked he stopped talking to me and went away.”
