Meet Peanut, The oldest chicken to live in the world for 20yrs (Photos)
The World Guinness record Identifies a 20yr old hen, Peanut from Michigan, USA as the most oldest living chicken in the world.
According to the Guinness record, Peanut was born in 2002 which makes her 20 yrs old on March 1st, 2023.
Peanut is said to be the oldest chicken in the world after living for decades, escaping death by a whisker when she was abandoned by her mother.
Her owners, Marsi Darwin who is a retired librarian raised her the first day she was hatched.

The Chicken’s age was also verified by her vet Doctor, Dr Julia Parker who firstly came across her in 2003 as a fully grown adult.
Marsi disclosed that before Peanut hatched, Her mother abandoned her when she left the nest with her other chicks and during the time of searching, she discovered a egg, picked it up and wanted to throw it away only for her to hear it cheep.
Despite being peeled out of her shell, Peanut mother refused to accept her as her child.

Marsi also revealed that Peanut laid eggs until she was eight years old, which is a year or two longer than an average layer.
She hatched several nests of eggs and brought forth hordes of grandchildren and great-grandchildren during her lifetime but has now become too old to breed.
“I’m sure she has outlived quite a few of her children,” Marsi said.
