Court orders Donald Trump to pay legal fees in Stephanie Clifford suit

A Superior Court Judge of California has ordered Donald Trump to pay a sum of $44,100 to Stephanie Clifford which she is also known as Stormy Daniels to repay her attorney fees in the legal battle surrounding her confidentiality agreement.

On Monday the Judge order was issued and posted on Friday by Stephanie Clifford’s attorney’s.

According to the reports, Stephanie Clifford was an adult actress who had an affair with Donald Trump during 2006-2007 and signed $130,000 a confidentiality agreement with Donald Trump Former Attorney (Michael Cohen) who represented a shell company and also “David Dennison,” which Clifford contends is a pseudonym for Donald Trump.

Stephanie Clifford sued Donald Trump in 2018, seeking to be released from the NDA. In response, Donald Trump and his legal team agreed outside of court not to sue or otherwise enforce the NDA.

The suit was dismissed and Stephanie Clifford’s claims ruled moot, as the NDA had been rendered unenforceable.

Monday’s decision was a response to Clifford’s efforts to be reimbursed for costs and attorney’s fees related to the case.

In his decision this week, Judge Robert Broadbelt III ruled that Stepahnie Clifford was entitled to legal fees, finding her the “prevailing party” under California law, despite the case having been dismissed.

Judge Robert Broadbelt also declined an argument by Doanld Trump’s attorneys that the President was not liable for the fees because he had not signed the NDA yet.

In his decision, Judge Robert Broadbelt wrote that since Donald Trump had repayed Michael Cohen for the $130,000 payment to Stephanie Clifford and since Donald Trump legal team had earlier argued that a slander suit filed against Doanld Trump by Stephanie Clifford should be given to an arbitrator per the NDA and Trump was also a party to the agreement.
