Nigeria records 114 new cases of coronavirus

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 114 cases of the novel coronavirus in Nigeria on Friday, April 24. The new cases are among the best to be reported within the country by the govt. agency. consistent with the report, Lagos state has the best infections with 80 cases while Gome followed with 21 infections. Federal Capital Territory Abuja came third with 5 infections and followed by Zamfara and Edo with 4 cases shared between them equally. Kaduna, Sokoto, Oyo and Ogun, however, record very cheap with 4 cases shared among them. the entire confirmed cases in Nigeria are now 1095, out of which 32 people have lost their lives and 208 are .

He disclosed this while he was speaking at the briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Friday, April 24. Going further, he also disclosed that almost all deaths have occurred in older persons. “​The high number of recent cases is thanks to on-going community transmission and active case search. From our test statistics, the foremost affected cohort among the positives is 31-40 years while the best COVID-19 death rate is among the older generation above 50 years old,” he said. “We have now deployed COVID-19 starter packs to all or any tertiary institutions and Federal Medical Centers to enrich what was earlier sent to every State. The starter packs contains medical consumables and disposables, to confirm that our frontline healthcare workers are protected,” he said.
