Lady Duped Of N1.2m By Online Lover

One AbdulSobur Katayeyanjue was, on Friday, charged before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court, for deceitfully acquiring the whole of N1.2m from a lady, Oluremi Lawal. 

The 23-year old Katayeyanjue showed up before Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara on four tallies of affectation, extortion, taking and intrigue. 

Katayeyanjue and others yet to be secured supposedly executed the wrongdoing at some point in June this year. 

Reacting to inquiries from the court, the complainant, Oluremi, clarified that she met one Olamide Adegoke on the internet based life and they occupied with a relationship. 

She said not long after, she got a call from Katayeyanjue, who educated her that her darling was engaged with a cruiser mishap and required cash to settle the medical clinic bills. 

Oluremi expressed, “I met Adegoke on the web and he was professing to be minding and cherishing. Not long after, I got a call that he was engaged with a cruiser mishap and that he required cash for treatment. 

“The individual, who called me, happens to be Katayeyanjue, who claimed to be a cop from the Adigbe Police Station in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He disclosed to me that he checked Adegoke’s telephone and found a number spared with ‘My affection’ and that the number ended up being mine.” 

The police investigator, John Idoko, said Katayeyanjue plotted with others everywhere in June 2019 in Osogbo to carry out the wrongdoing. 

He clarified that the respondent got the whole of N1.2m from Oluremi on the appearance that he would spend it on the treatment of the mishap injured individual. 

The offenses, as per him, contradict segments 422, 419, 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Voll. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002. 

The respondent argued not blameworthy to the charges. 

The protection counsel, A. O. Emmanuel, said his customer had been allowed a managerial bail by the police. 

Justice Ayilara, in any case, coordinated that Emmanuel should record a previous bail application for his customer. 

He remanded the respondent in a restorative focus and deferred the issue till January 17, 2020, for hearing.
